Wates Construction – Bluecoat School
Streetwise Environmental completed a soft landscaping and planting project for Wates Construction at Bluecoat Academy Primary School in Bilborough.
The project involved a variety of works including the initial clearance of parts of the site, tree works, turfing and planting. Time was tight for landscaping on this scale – just two to three weeks for completion. Landscaping is always the final part of the project, so any time delays caused by other sub-contractors can mean significant flexibility on our part to meet the handover deadline. We were able to draft in extra team members, and work outside hours to ensure everything met the required standard and was ready for the 11th December when 420+ children and staff were moving in!
Working with Wates Construction required us to meet all their Health and Safety requirements, including providing SSSTS trained supervisors complete with SEATS qualifications, operatives all compliant with CSCS cards and all aware of the daily site meetings and inductions which our teams were required to attend.
We’re proud to have played a part in the state of the art premises at Bilborough. The new school building and grounds look fabulous and we love the fact that Bluecoat decided to keep large areas turfed as well as tarmac so that the kids have plenty of green space to play on. We will be looking after the grounds for the first year while they mature, ensuring the new planting thrives.
Zak Farnsworth of Wates Construction said, “Since working with Streetwise in 2016 I have been really impressed with the quality of work that they have produced. Despite being a smaller social enterprise, all of the projects that they have worked on look fantastic and they have maintained them excellently. Whenever there have been changes to projects they have always responded quickly and looked to provide a solution in the best interests of all parties. Streetwise have always been very easy to work with and I look forward to working with them more on future projects.
